The Scenic flight
Where the fishermen go to fish

In the culture of the Kimberley people, the Wandjina is a respected and irritable spirit, who brings water and life to a parched land. Join us as we explore the heart of the Wandjina country and marvel at the landscapes, river systems and coast that these spirits have nurtured.

Departing Kununurra we track west towards El Questro Station on the Pentecost River, the spectacular Cockburn Ranges in full view, and Home Valley Station. Your flight continues across the vast expanse of the rarely visited Ngarnyin country, towards the beautiful Mitchell Falls in Wunambal country, where the plane will orbit the falls several times. The flight continues to the coast, to Port Warrender and the Kimberley Coastal Camp, the rich pearl farms of Vansittart Bay, the historic WWII Truscott airbase, and miles of exotic and pristine coastline.

We arrive at the remote settlement of Kalumburu for an intriguing glimpse of this remote community , built on the boarders of three Dawang, Gamberre, Miwa and Ngarinyin country. Our guide and courtesy bus will pick you up to visit the Kalumburu mission settlement, a picnic morning tea is served on the Mission lawns. We then visit the antiquated and fascinating museum, the Church and Bakery. Our local guide will take you to visit the Art Centre (subject to opening times) and the historic WWII aircraft graveyard and have a picnic lunch under the shade of the paperbarks at the local swimming hole. After 4 hours out at Kalumburu on the ground we depart for the remote Timor Sea coast, overflying Faraway Bay, the spectacular King George Falls, Berkeley River, and the mighty Cambridge Gulf.

At the mouth of the Ord River we track east following its meandering path and tidal floodplains where saltwater crocodiles are often seen soaking in the midday sun, we overfly House Roof Hill, the recognizable backdrop to Baz Luhman�s �Australia� movie. The Ord River Irrigation Area and its expanding farmlands will then be revealed as we set course for the green and vibrant townsite of Kununurra.

This is a fantastic all day experience, with an interface with a remote community that very few people ever encounter, come and join us and travel this extraordinary remote Kimberley coast.
