Trip Itinerary:
Day 1:
Departing Darwin at approximately 6:00am, we travel towards Kakadu
National Park. Covering just under 20,000 square kilometres, Kakadu
National Park is Australias largest National Park and home to Aboriginal
people for over 65,000 years. First stop today is Ubirr, situated
in the north of Kakadu National Park. The walks here feature several
impressive art sites that lead to a lookout over the Nadab Floodplain.
Traditionally people camped beneath Ubirrs rocky shelters and used
the plants and animals nearby for food, tools and medicine. With
much of the art featuring fish, turtles, goanna and other important
animals, it is considered among the best in the world, with great
examples of X-ray art and contact art from the time when Aboriginal
people first encountered Europeans. After enjoying a picnic lunch,
embark on the cultural experience that is Gulyumbi Cultural Cruises.
Explore upstream of the East Alligator River with your Aboriginal
guide and gain an insight into the culture, local mythology, the
rivers abundant food chain as well as bush survival skills. Later,
we check into Hawk Dreaming Wilderness Lodge which will be our accommodation
for this evening located in a remote and restricted area of Kakadu
National Park. With significant cultural importance to the local
Aboriginal people living nearby, the area in which the lodge is
located is a registered sacred site. The sandstone outliers host
significant rock art dating back many thousands of years. Tonight,
enjoy dinner at the lodge with your fellow travellers before retiring
to your comfortable tented cabins complete with bathroom facilities.

Day 2:
Following a tasty breakfast at the lodge this morning, today is
set aside to visit Arnhem Land. Travelling over Cahills Crossing,
meet Aboriginal artists at Injalak Arts and Crafts centre in Oenpelli.
This is time to watch Aboriginal artists at work and to see the
women weaving pandanus baskets. We will then travel into the Mikkinj
valley with its stunning scenery of billabongs, wildlife and towering
escarpment and enjoy lunch beside the Inkiyu Billabong. Later this
afternoon we travel to Anbinik Kakadu Resort, close by to the township
of Jabiru. Enjoy your comfortable accommodation tonight and dinner
at the Resort with your fellow guests.

Day 3:
This morning we have breakfast at the resort before continuing on
our journey through Kakadu National Park en-route to Katherine and
Nitmiluk Gorge. Stopping in at the Warradjan Cultural Centre at
Cooinda, see artefacts that illustrate the stories that the traditional
owners wish to share with visitors. Developed by the Aboriginal
traditional owners of Kakadu, the centre mixes contemporary techniques
to cover various subjects, ranging from personal histories to bush
tucker. Afterwards, visit Gunlom Falls, made famous by the movie
Crocodile Dundee. With its cascading waters, pristine plunge pools
and a natural infinity pool, Gunlom offers a short, steep walk to
the top of the falls where you will be rewarded with incredible
sweeping views of the southern hills and ridges of Kakadu and the
Arnhem Land Escarpment. For those wanting a less strenuous walk,
enjoy the main pool at the base of the falls before enjoying a BBQ
lunch prepared by your guide. Continuing on to the Katherine region,
check into the gorgeous Cicada Lodge for the evening where we will
enjoy sunset drinks and canapes before dinner at the lodge. Cicada
Lodge is designed for the sophisticated traveller looking for an
authentic Indigenous and natural Australian experience.

Day 4: Kakadu to Darwin
Enjoy breakfast this morning at Cicada Lodge before we check out
and make the short journey to Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge). On arrival
we depart on a two hour Nit Nit Dreaming cruise exploring the first
two gorges. Spend some time exploring the spiritual home of the
Jawoyn Aboriginal people before a tasty lunch within Katherine Gorge.
This afternoon we begin the journey back towards Darwin. We stop
along the way to visit Edith Falls and the Adelaide River War Cemetery,
a sobering reminder of the impact World War II had on this part
of Australia, before arriving at Darwin in the early evening
