Tour Itinerary: 1 Day Palm Valley 4X4 Tour

We will collect you from outside your Alice Springs accommodation from 7.00am. Traveling through the West MacDonnell Ranges we make our way to the Historic Precinct of Hermannsburg known to the Arrarnta people as ‘Ntaria’. Hermannsburg was the birthplace of celebrated Aboriginal artist Albert Namatjira in 1902 and is renowned for its indigenous art collection. Explore the historic buildings and Art Gallery. Its then time to depart Hermannsburg and journey along the ancient Finke River bed by custom built 4WD.

After morning tea, we stop at “The Amphitheatre” or Kalaranga lookout for a short walk. Then time to sit back and take in the beautiful scenery, enjoy the 4WD drive into Palm Valley where you will be able to wander amongst the relict Palms and Cycads. Here you will have the opportunity to complete to Rim Walk or the River Walk and experience this Oasis in the desert.

On the return journey, enjoy a delicious fresh picnic lunch before we return to Alice Springs watching the fading light reflecting of the MacDonnell Ranges.

What are the departure and arrival times?
• We leave Alice Springs at approximately 7:00 am and return to Alice Springs at around 5:30 pm.

Can I bring my family?
Yes. Children aged 2 years and over are welcome on our tour. Children aged 2-15 and charged $124 per person. All travellers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be responsible for their care.

What should I bring on tour?
• Travel voucher, water bottle (capacity 1 liter), strong non-slip walking shoes, hat (wide-brimmed is best), Flynet, sunglasses, sunscreen, camera, casual and comfortable clothing (cool, light clothing is best in summer and warm clothing for winter).t.
