ITINERARY

Why we love this trip
• The perfect amount of land and ocean, see the stunning Flinders ranges and head down South for some aqua activities with the local wildlife • Explore the start of the Great Australian Bight, explore Talia cave and the Tub and go sand boarding at lake Newland dunes.
• Camp at Coodlie Park bush campsite.
• Sleep in a swag or Aussie bedroll under the stars with the koalas.

Is this trip right for you?
• This trip is swag camping only, and whilst we think this adds to the experience, we want you to be aware that you're sleeping 'Aussie style'
• There are quite basic facilities on this trip, and two nights with no showers available. National Parks are generally quite minimal with facilities offered
• We will travel through some quite remote regions of the South West, most of the time we won't have prone reception or internet access

Day 1: Adelaide - Flinders Ranges National Park
With its many festivals and great live music scene, South Australia's state capital prides itself on being Australia's arts hub - but we love it just as much for its proximity to some of the world's greatest wines. If you arrive in Adelaide a few days prior to your Overland adventure starting, make sure to try some choice drops from the Barossa or a McLaren Vale shiraz. We head out of the city pretty early on Day 1, stopping for a quick coffee in Clare (another great wine region), and then continuing on to the southern Flinders Ranges National Park. There'll be time for a stretch of the legs at Alligator Gorge, lunch in Quorn - home of the Pichi Richi Railway - and a guided to the top of the ranges at Dutchman's Stern. Tonight's campsite is in Warren Gorge; keep your eyes peeled for yellow-footed rock wallabies, which have bounced back from near-extinction.

Driving time is about four and a half hours. We walk about 2 hours. (L/D)

Day 2: Flinders Ranges National Park - Coodlie Park (Eyre Peninsula)
Prepare to encounter one of Australia's best-kept secrets today: the Eyre Peninsula. Composed of incredible red-rock landscapes, a huge diversity of wildlife and very few travellers, this part of the world really feels like your own private piece of paradise. After heading through Port Augusta, stop in for lunch at tiny town of Kimba - the midway point between coasts east and west and home of the Big Galah. Continue the drive across the peninsula, arriving at Coodlie Park Farm Retreat in the afternoon.

Today we drive for about four hours and walking time is about an hour and a half. (B/L/D)
Please note that tomorrow you will be swapping buses and joining the other group coming from Perth.

Day 3: Coodlie Park - Baird Bay
This morning we head out with the group coming from Perth and going to Adelaide. Heading off to swim with the ever cheeky and playful sea lions and dolphins at Baird Bay. A pristine coast line and sanctuary for a multitude of land and sea animals. This outsource adventure done by Baird Bay eco tours is an optional experience. It is a 3-4 hour tour that will remain a beautiful memory for the rest of your life. Having had lunch at the picnic spot at Bairds, onto Murphy's Haystacks, incredible granite rock formations sculptured into wondrous and weird shapes over millions of years. We then head for Talia Caves and the Lake Newland Sand dunes to go sandboarding.

Driving time today is about 3 hours, and an optional 4 hours for swimming. (B/L/D)

Day 4: Coodlie Park and Mikkira station
Motor along the Great Ocean Tourist Drive towards Elliston, checking out the amazing cliffs of Locks Well en route, then continue on to Port Lincoln for lunch. Stretch your legs with a wander around the town - we've put aside an hour here for you to stroll along the foreshore, survey the scenery from Winters Hill Lookout or kick back with a cool drink in a cafι. Tonight we camp at Mikkira Station, a private campground surrounded by eucalyptus trees and neighbourly koalas.

We drive for about 4 hours today, and walk for 1.5 hours. (B/L/D)

Day 5: Port Lincoln - Port Neill
For some, today is an extreme adrenalin day! Those that dare come face to face with the Great White Shark on a day tour this is an optional experience which includes a video highlights of your experience. Up at 5.30 am to board the vessel by 6.30 am. For those not wishing to be quite so extreme, we head out to Whalers Way Conservation Park for some spectacular and stunning coastlines. If we are lucky we will see some kangaroos and emus in this privately owned Flora and Fauna Reserve. This drive is followed by a walk in the Lincoln National park and to have a relaxed lunch and maybe a swim, then a visit to Glen Forest Wildlife Park and visit the wildlife you saw on the Nullarbor up close. You even get to hand feed some of the animals.

Driving time is about 4 hours today with a 2 hour walk. (B/L/D)

Great White Shark on a day tour

Day 6: Port Neill to Adelaide
We head through Whyalla and into Port Augusta and the Wadlata Cultural Centre that helps provide answers to the many questions about the formation of the Nullarbor, Flinders Rangers, and the formation of Australia as a continent. It also takes you on an interpretative walk through the life of the new frontier pioneers. After lunch we hit the road again and head for South Australia's capital city Adelaide.

Driving time back to Adelaide is about 3.5 hours. (B/L)
